CARKEEK PARK HEAVEN AND EARTH X
At this temporary art project site, my intent was to create a sculpture with minimal visual impact on the surrounding environment. The design concept was to make a rectangular form out of connecting boxes made from two by fours. The wooden sculpture was burnt using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method to create texture and color, as well as, protect the wood during the temporary outdoor exhibit. By design this piece is right on the edge between art and function (sculpture and/or bench). Finally, I hoped the work would have a sense or feeling of isolation at a distance.
