This temporary public art projects was designed to further explore the concept of creating weight on many levels using materials and texture. The two sources of material for this project were steel and tree sections salvaged from a tree removal project.

The chosen site for the sculpture was the west exterior stair wall of the Fisher Pavilion located at the Seattle Center – Seattle WA. My intent was to interrupt the concrete wall by installing a carved wood form that traveled over and down the wall in a semi straight line. The scale of this piece was 168 inches x 9 inches x 9 inches. A steel u shaped structure with bolts provided a means to hold the sculpture in place and connect the sections of textured carved wood at different intervals. The carved wood tree sections were treated using the Shou Sugi Ban burning process.
